History

The children really enjoyed looking at old children's toys from the Victorian age today.

We also really enjoyed Mrs Belcher's assembly about past pupils who have attended Upland Primary School. Some include Mr Lynch, Mrs Dawson, Mrs Bozaci, Tom Hull and Mrs Down!

Below is a video of some of the children explaining what they think History is/means, enjoy! :-)

Wow!

Lola-Rose brought in a wow moment to share with us all. Such amazing news Lola-Rose, welldone!

Healthy eating & Wellbeing

Yesterday in Ladybird Class we focused on how to stay fit and healthy!

We had the fun task of creating people made from fruit and vegetables, doing a particular sport.

We even got to taste the yummy foods after we made our pictures!

We got to do some indoor exercise (as the weather wasn't great!) using Cyber Coach. We all followed a person on the interactive whiteboard.

We had lots of fun!

In the afternoon we discussed healthy foods and what would make a healthy meal. We used the Eatwell plate to help us.

This is Alicia's healthy meal. What do you think?

Money Money Money!

Yesterday was Maths Day!

We read 'The Great Pet Sale' by Mick Inkpen.

We had an introduction to money and explored the different coins!

Do you know what each coin is worth?

We used the magnifying glasses to look closely at the different coins. We also did rubbings of the coins with crayons.

We also had a shop set up so we could pretend to buy things with money!

10 Black Dots

What can you do with 10 black dots?
In Nursery we read the story, "Ten Black Dots" and then made our own dotty pictures. Count how many dots we used.

Haden's picture has 2 dots. 1 for the doorbell and one for the handle.

How many dots has Jamie used altogether in his picture?

We played a game on the Interactive White Board where we had to count the correct number of spots onto the ladybird.

We completed dotty puzzles! We used a number line to help us to find out what number came next.

Talking 3D Shapes

Rupert made a fantastic model from the Interstar. Listen to his explanation about what it is below! :-)

Place Value!

Some children in Ladybird class started to explore place value yesterday.
It started from Jacob wanting to know how to write the number 'one hundred and one' so we used the arrow cards to help us understand.

Once we got the jist of numbers around 100, we moved beyond that to even bigger numbers!

'Mrs Shepherd, this number is five hundred and sixty' said Louie!

'This must be one thousand and four' said Jacob!

Not only did the children enjoy exploring place value but they also applied their new knowledge by having a go at writing the corresponding numbers. Welldone everyone! :-)
