Today's sound is x!

We named words which had the x sound in. Lots of words had the x sound at the end of the word, six, fox, box and a T-Rex!

We watched a T-Rex rap on CBeebies and learnt lots of facts about them!
"The T-Rex uses his teeth to bite and they are very long and sharp!" Madison and Farris.
"He would start a fight!" Mason.
"They liked to eat meat" Taylor.

We made T-Rex skeletons using pasta, breadsticks and cotton buds!

We found out how many of our feet would fit inside a T-Rex's footprint. To do this we took our shoes off and put them inside a template of a T-Rex's footprint

44 of morning Bumble Bee children's shoes filled the T-Rex's footprint!

We put all of afternoon Bumble Bee children's shoes in the T-Rex's footprint. There were 26 shoes altogether!
"All of our shoes are not as big as the dinosaurs footprint" Brianna.

Kishen found the letter x hidden inside the sand tray!

Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs!

This week at Nursery our learning activities will be based around the story, "Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs"Just like Harry in the story we will be learning the names of common dinosaurs and learning simple facts about them.

"This is a T-Rex. It has a long tail and sharp teeth like me! It eats meat"

We retold the story using small world toys.
"Harry left his dinosaurs on the train"

At the Maths Area we had to find out and record how many dinosaurs we could fit inside our bucket. We remembered to line up the dinosaurs and to touch them and use a big counting voice as we counted them. To help us to recognise and write the numbers we used a number line.

"I have 6. 3 and 3 make 6"

We enjoyed cleaning the dinosaurs in the water tray!

We made dinosaurs using play dough and dinosaur body parts.

"I made a Triceratops"

Harry painted a Triceratops - "It has horns!"

Eliza completed this dinosaur puzzle all by herself!

We coloured in dinosaur pictures on the interactive white board.

At Forest School, Taylor and George looked for dinosaur bones "we're digging for bones"

This week we are learning to use words to describe and compare capacity for example, full, half full and empty.

"My bottle is full"

"The bowl is empty"

"My bottle is half full"
"The bucket is half full"
"The bucket is full"

Forest School size and measuring

We have been looking at length and measuring in nursery this week.
We found things to measure at Forest School.

Sonny said "the string is really short, the tree is longer"

Jesse used his measure a daisy against his string. "The daisy is shorter"

Jamie found a stick that was as long as his hand.

29th April

The children used a piece of string to find long and short things.

Willow and Carys compared two snails to see which was bigger and smaller. The snails felt "ticklish"!

Abigail's snail was "tiny". She showed it to her friends.

St George's Day celebrations in Bumble Bee Class!

On the interactive white board we watched the story of 'St George and the Dragon'
"The dragon breathed fire!" Farris
"The dragon was burning down the village!" Taylor
"The people were scared." Mason
"The knight killed the dragon!" John
"I saved the Princess" George

We enjoyed role playing the story in our Outdoor Area.
"We're scared of the dragon!"

"I'm going to fight a big dragon!"

The dragon built a nest & sat on it's eggs!
"I'm Harry the knight! Where's that dragon gone?"

"He's a friendly dragon, he's guarding me from the evil knight".

"We're going to get the dragon,"

"Roar!"

"I'm making a castle for the princess to live in"

We made St George's day cards for our friends and family.
"I made a card for Lily-Ann and she made one for me"

We made England flags to take home. We painted a red cross on them.

The children helped Viv to write a story with a dragon and volcano in. The children enjoyed listening to the story.
