Bumble Bee Class - week beginning 23.11.15

This week at Nursery we will be talking about what makes us unique and special.

On Monday we listened to the story, "Its Okay To Be Different".

This week at nursery we will all be painting a self-portrait. We will look carefully in the mirror to make sure we use the correct colours and remember our facial features. Look out for them on display in nursery soon!

We will practise our cutting and sticking skills throughout the week.
On Monday we used the scissors to cut small pieces of paper into a bowl. On Tuesday we will use the pieces of paper to stick and decorate a number '5'.

At the Writing Area will be learning to form recognisable letters in our name using the correct formation. We will trace the letters in our name, remembering to start at the red dot and following the arrow in the correct direction.
Name writing practice with big name cards.

Thank you to the parents who have sent in Wow Moments with their child. We have enjoyed sharing them with the rest of the class and it is lovely to see the children take such pride in their achievements.

With Isabelle Mei-Sum we learnt how to say "it's raining" in Mandarin!

This weeks number focus is the number 5.
We counted and made numbers 1-5 using our fingers.

The number 5 Numicon shape has 5 holes and it is red.

Zachary matched the Numicon shapes 1-5 onto the base board.

We decorated number 5's.

We practised writing numbers 1-5.

We made numbers 1-5 using play dough.

Using a number line to help him, Oscar was able to order numbers 1-5.

Joe and Chloe worked together to complete this number puzzle - WOW! We were really proud of their concentration and perserverance.

Bumble Bee Class - week beginning 16.11.15

This week at nursery we will be learning to name and talk about the feelings - happy, sad, tired, excited and angry.

We sang a feelings song to the tune of, "If you're happy and you know it". The words to each verse are:
- if you're happy and you know it give a smile.
- if you're sad and you know it give a frown.
- if you're excited and you know it, then say, "wow!"
- if you're angry and you know it stamp your feet.
- if you're tired and you know it give a yawn.
Ask your child to sing it to you at home using the correct actions and facial expressions!

We talked about when we feel happy, sad, excited, angry and tired.

I am happy with Michael. He makes me laugh and smile at school everyday.

I'm tired when mummy wakes me up.

My grandad makes me excited and I scream!

I am sad when Ollie hits me.

When I'm angry I stamp my feet!

We made different facial expressions using play dough.

Bumble Bee class - week beginning 09.11.15

This week in Bumble Bee class our learning activities will be about "Fireworks!"

We watched a firework display on the interactive whiteboard. We talked about fireworks which we had seen and thought of words to describe them.

Using pipettes, coloured paint and glitter we made a firework background for our display.

At our Fine Motor table we used pretty coloured beads and stones to make these lovely firework patterns.

We drew firework patterns on big pieces of black paper using coloured chalks.

We are learning how to write our names using the correct sequence of movements. We can use our name cards to help us, by remembering to start each letter at the red dot and following the arrow in the correct direction.

On the interactive whiteboard we made firework pictures.

We have enjoyed playing in our Fire Station role play area!

Isobel and Michael worked really hard to finish their fire fighter puzzles, showing great persistence - well done!

We printed with scourers and washing up brushes to make pretty firework pictures.

At our Fine Motor table we threaded sparkly pipe cleaners to make firework rockets.

This week at nursery we have also been learning how to play simple percussion instruments - bells, tambourine, rainmakers and maracas.

We had to look at Sue and Karen our conductors to know when to play our instruments and when to stop!
