Bumble Bees - week beginning 14.12.15

This week at Nursery we will be continuing our Christmas celebrations.

We made a play dough beard for Father Christmas!

At the easel we painted pictures of Father Christmas.

We enjoyed  playing with our Christmas small world play activities helping Father Christmas to deliver his presents.

At the Fine Motor table we used tweezers to carefully lift the bells into the bottles.

We enjoyed making patterns in the reindeer food!

It was fun rolling Brussel sprouts to make our pictures!

On the interactive whiteboard we 'click and dragged' objects to dress Father Christmas and his elf.

Thank you to the parents and grandparents who came to visit for our 'Stay and Play' session - we had lots of fun, we hope you did too!

Bumble Bees - week beginning 07.12.15

This week at Nursery we will be learning about the many ways in which Christmas is celebrated. Inside our mystery hat were objects all linked to Christmas celebrations. These included: Christmas decorations, a Christmas tree, baby Jesus, a Christmas card, a Christmas present, Farther Christmas and a Brussel Sprout!

We enjoyed playing in our new Christmas role play area.

Liana and Jessie are enjoying their Christmas dinner!

At the Fine Motor table we decorated Christmas trees using little beads.

At the Maths table we used tweezers to match the coloured pom poms to the Christmas tree baubles.

On the interactive white board we used the pen to 'click and drag' decorations onto the Christmas tree.

At the Messy Area table we used our handprints to make a Christmas tree and then decorated it by printing decorations onto it.

At the Writing Area table we wrote the inserts for our Christmas cards.

We enjoyed playing with the green cornflour.
It's green gloop!

This weeks number focus is the number 6!
We played a dice game on the carpet. We rolled the dice and then had to find the bauble on the Christmas tree with the matching number.

The Numicon shape for number 6 is light blue and has 6 holes.

Bumble Bee class - week beginning 31.11.15

This week in nursery the children will be learning The Nativity story and why Christmas time is a special time for people who are Christians.

We listened to the Nativity Story and talked about the characters and events which took place.

We painted characters from the story for a classroom display.

A king. They went to the stable.

Our finished display!

On Tuesday we began our class advent. Each day we will learn something special about Christmas and how it is celebrated around the world.

This week for our maths activities we will learning the names of 2d shapes and using simple maths vocabulary to describe them.
We listened to a shape song on YouTube and had to point to the matching shapes.
A rectangle.

We made shapes from play dough.

A circle.

We were very good at completing the shape puzzles!

We enjoyed making shape pictures.

In the Writing Area we carefully traced 2d shapes.

We played a shape game on the carpet. We had to take a shape from the mystery hat and then match it to the right shape on the carpet. We named the shapes and used words to describe them.
A circle it's round.

A triangle. It has 3 sides.

In the Outdoor Area we looked for shapes in the environment.
We saw lots of circles!

The wheels are a circle shape.

Charlie found a triangle shape.

Triangle!

Amelia found a square shape.

We enjoyed playing a shape matching game on the Topmarks early years website.

We completed art activities inspired by the artist Kadinsky - "he uses lots of circles"

Circle cutting and sticking.

Our finished art work!
