A Midsummer Nights Dream

This week is Shakepeare Week and in Nursery the children will be watching a simple cartoon adaptation of the story, "A Midsummer Nights Dream". Our role play area will be an enchanted forest where the children can create their own magical adventures. Many of our classroom activities will be flower themed related to the magical flower in the story.

We used our imaginations to make up our own stories in our enchanted forest role play area.

I have no one to marry! 

Who will Joe decide to marry?!

We patterned flowers at the Writing Area table.

Using oil pastels we have drawn daffodils for our Mothers Day cards.

We enjoyed making love potions in the water tray!

We even made potions at Forest School!

 

Bumble Bee Class - week beginning 22.02.16

This weeks learning activities will be based upon the story of, 

"The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle.

We acted out the life cycle of a butterfly!

An egg on a leaf

A caterpillar comes out an egg.

They spin a cocoon around them for their home.

They become a butterfly and fly away!

Bailey has made a cocoon for Chloe!

At the Writing Area we drew our own caterpillars and recalled events from the story. 

At the Messy Area table we made caterpillars using play dough!

We made our own caterpillars using tissue paper circles.

We made butterfly prints at the Messy Area Table.

Wow it's a butterfly! It's beautiful! 

On the interactive whiteboard we ordered numbers on a caterpillars back from 1-5.

We ordered numbers to make a caterpillar.

We identified missing numbers in a sequence.

We have enjoyed playing in our new role play area which is a Fruit and Vegetable Shop.

Phonics Focus: - 
The letter sounds we will be learning this week are e and u.
Elijah and Emel enjoyed taking Bob Bee home and finding things beginning with the sound 'e'

Maths Focus: - 
This week we will be assessing the children's counting skills and number recognition through practical activities.

Jesse is counting fruit which the very hungry caterpillar ate.

Chinese New Year celebrations

Monday 8th February was the start of Chinese New Year. 

In class we have been having a go at writing some Chinese symbols, colouring dragon masks and even a go at a dragon dance.

Love is in the air in Bumble Bee class!

In Bumble Bee class we watched the story, "Guess How Much I Love You?"

We talked about people who we love and why they are special to us.

At the Writing Area Table we drew and wrote special messages for people we love.

At the Messy Area table we made collage hearts for people we love.

We enjoyed making play dough hearts at our Fine Motor table.
