Harvest

This week, we have been learning about the Harvest Festival and focused on The Gigantic Turnip story.

Our role play area has turned into the Fruit and Vegetable shop with children enjoying having a go at being shop keepers and customers.

The children also found out about what fruit and vegetables are and which food is healthy and unhealthy.

As part of our maths learning, we learned songs about food and acted them out.

In addition, the children had fun printing with vegetables and pretending to cook in the water tray!

The highlight of the week was learning to chop up vegetables for our own bumblebee soup! Every single child had a go!

There were a wide range of reactions to the taste, however, from love to strong dislike!

How are you feeling today?

This week we learned about feelings. As part of their learning, the children enjoyed acting out different feelings from happy and sad to excited, worried and even nervous. They liked putting their name next to the appropriate photo to show how they were feeling that day. They then took part in many activities from drawing or making different emotions in cornflour, porridge, playdough and used tweezers to put coloured stones around faces.

Some children chose to write 'Get Well Soon' cards to someone who wasn't feeling very well.

One of the highlights of the week was receiving a visit from two mums with their babies. Thank you so much to the mums for giving up your time to come and talk to the children in the morning and afternoon nursery! The children learned about how babies feel at different times and how to look after them. They said 'hello' to the baby and gave it a stroke!

With the sun shining in October, the weather was great for exploring activities outdoors, too.
