Exploring the Artic and Antarctica

Over the last two weeks, we have been learning about the polar regions. Last week, we looked at the information book, The Emperor's Egg, written by the scientist, Martin Jenkins.

The children enjoyed looking at globes and Atlases and learning about the different animals living in freezing cold conditions.

We have also been learning about polar explorers: Robert Falcon Scott, Roald Amundsen, Ernest Shackleton and Ann Daniels. The children had a good time pretending to go on expeditions, with some taking on a role of a husky pulling the sleigh!

They also kept their fingers busy by counting snowflakes and dressing little explorers and preparing them to climb snowy mountains.

In Maths, we have been learning to count and represent numbers as pictures, tallies and numerals.

Outside, Bumblebees have been taking the fitness test to get ready for all those expeditions! They are now well prepared for the cold weather coming our way!
