Pirates ahoy!

This week, we have been reading the story, Pirates Love Underpants, by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort.

The children enjoyed looking for all kinds of treasure and going on imaginary voyages. They particularly liked trying to get away from one mean shark, Mrs Isaac!

Bumblebees also learned to sail through the story to look for rhyming words and had a go at finding rhyming words and putting them into rhyming houses.

In Maths, we focused on problem solving and the children enjoyed learning to find the total of two groups of coins and even had a go at recording this.

They also had fun making 'wanted' posters of pirates in their class as well as treasure maps!

In addition, Bublebees enjoyed drawing and painting pirates and learning about floating and sinking, which is very important to survive at sea.

Because it was Valentines Day, pirates in Bumblebees also wrote messages for their friends and families, revealing their softer side...

The week (an term!) finished with the stay and play...

It has been a busy six weeks. We wish the children and their families and great half term with plenty of sunshine!

People who help us

Over the last two weeks, we have started learning about different people who help us in our community. As a start, our role play turned into a hospital where the children enjoyed treating our class toys and each other!

Bumblebees also had fun learning the Miss Polly Had a Dolly song and acting it out:

Our class also had a mobile hairdresser and police officers wondering around keeping order.

In Maths, we have been learning about separating objects in different ways and police officers were keeping their beady eyes on that, too, to ensure nothing was amiss.

Sometimes, the children chose more than one job to do at once. Just look at this doctor turned baker in his lunch break!

The highlight of the last 2 weeks was our visit to the Mini City, where the children enjoyed even more role play!

They tried their hand at building...

...had a go at performing surgery...

...bought their dinner...

...and even enforced the law.

Some of us, however, were not very lucky!

And after the drama of several adults being arrested, a trip to the hairdressers' was in order...

Thank you to all the parents and carers for helping to make the trip memorable!
