Bird Watching at Forest School

We have been taking part in the RSPB's Big School Birdwatch.
We made bird feeders with bagels, honey and birdseed, and Bumblebee children visited Forest School every day to feed the birds.

We know that the birds came to visit, as they left some clues on a snowy day!

On Welly Wednesday, we went to Forest school in small groups to count the birds (we had to be very quiet).
We used binoculars to help us identify the birds, and a special tent, called a hide, so that we could see the birds without frightening them away.

We recorded our results on a bird identification sheet, and drew sketches.

We identified woodpidgeons, magpies, blackbirds, gulls, a sparrow and a song thrush. We have sent our results to the RSPB and should receive a certificate very soon.
