Nursery rhymes

This week, Bumblebees have been learning about nursery rhymes. They began the week with putting the kettle on with Miss Polly in order to have some tea and cake!

In maths, they practiced counting just the right number of sugars and learned to work out the total if they added 1 more.

They extended this learning to cakes, too!

After all this fun, they even did the washing up...

One of the other nursery rhymes we learned was 'Humpty Dumpty Sat on a Wall'.

We had a fantastic discussion about who Humpty Dumpty was and what could have made him fall off the wall. We even tried to put a real egg on a pretend wall to help us decide and then talked about what we could use to put him back together again.

The children, subsequently, enjoyed retelling the nursery rhyme and making Humpty Dumpty fall over and over again!

Bumblebees also liked recording themselves singing nursery rhymes using talk pads and making their own music.

And just look at how hard they worked to build different types of walls both in the classroom and outside.

At the end of the week, the children took part in a book swap and enjoyed being read to by the older pupils who came down to the nursery. Hip, hip, hooray to the World Book Day!
