The Listening Walk

The Forest School groups in Bumblebee & Caterpillar classes listened to the story 'The Listening Walk' by Paul Showers. They then went on their own rainy day listening walk.

You can watch the story here...

The children visited lots of areas around the school, listening for different environmental sounds & describing what they heard.

Thw water in the drain pipe made a sound "like a fountain". The children pressed their ears to the pipe & the water sounded "really really loud".

Jumping in and walking through the puddles was great fun.

"Splash, splash, splash splash"

Bumblebees found a puddle big enough for 22 children and 2 adults - "that's 24" said Max.
We could hear the water rushing along the drain - "it's because there's been a lot of rain" said Tallulah.

In the outside classroom, the rain made a "tch tch" sound on the roof. Haden thought it sounded "like crickets".

After all that stomping & splashing, the children were ready for their hot chocolate and biscuit.

"Munch, munch, crunch!"
