Reception week beginning 05.06.17

This week our focus will be,

Father's Day!

Literacy Focus: -
In preparation for Father's Day the children will be writing about their Dad, what makes him special and activities which they like to do with him.
Maths Focus: -
Our maths focus this week will be subtraction. The children will be encouraged to read a given subtraction sum and choose an appropriate resource of their choice to answer it and record the total. The children will be extended in these activities by using a number line to count back and find an answer.

Our week in Caterpillar Class: -
We have been busy making  Father's Day gifts for our dad's.

We have written about our dad's.

In PE this week we practised our throwing and catching skills with a partner.


Caitlin enjoyed reading "The Tiger Who Came To Tea" to our tiger in the Reading Corner!


This week in Ladybird Class:




We have been busy writing some Father’s Day messages and cards.







Charlie C. designed a pair of pants after we read ‘Aliens in Underpants Save the World’ by Claire Freedman. 



William wrote about a Zebra after talking about some wild animals and what they might do. 



Adam wrote his ‘LONG’ story at home.  We really enjoyed him telling us about it.  We call counted that he used 10 pages stuck together.  Well done Adam!



We have been recording number sentences, using counters or a number line to support us. 




In PE we remember to warm up or bodies at the start of our session. 
This week we did some mini circuits of throwing and catching; balancing a quoit on our head and walking with it from cone to cone; and throwing a bean bag in a hoop by aiming it.  We worked really well in our mixed teams this week – Jacqui was really proud of us.
