Reception week beginning: - 03.07.17

This week is Outdoor Week!

This week is Outdoor Week at Uplands. We will begin our week by visiting the beach at Westbrooke Bay. Throughout the week the children will take part in a variety of outdoor team building games and activities. We will end our week with Sports Day on Friday morning. Please don't forget this week is a non uniform week and the children can wear comfortable and practical clothes suitable for outdoor activities. On Friday the children must come to school dressed in a t-shirt in their team colour and PE shorts and trainers (no laces please). We look forward to sharing our week with you!

Our week in Caterpillar Class: -
We had fun at the beach! We enjoyed chatting to our friends and family on the journey there!

The sea was a bit chilly - but it didn't stop us having a paddle!

We loved playing in the sand and made some great creations!

Picnic Time!

After lots of playing at the beach we all deserved an ice cream!

We had a lovely time with our friends and family.

We shook the sand from in between our toes before we left the beach!

On Tuesday we begun the day with the Ben Pullen team.

We learnt how to make a safe fire
We used spark sticks. We made a fire on the cotton wool.

To make a fire - you need fuel, air and a spark.

We finished our session by carefully toasting marshmallows on a fire!

We had a scooter session on the big playground.
First we had to put our protective pads and helmet on.

We then scootered up and down the playground.

Some of us were able to scoot with both feet on the board!

Here are some tricks to practise at home!

We enjoyed our dance session with Kate outside.
Can you remember the jungle moves?

We finished our action packed day with the Ben Pullen team playing team building games.

Isla helped a blindfolded Harry to walk along carefully next to the rope.

On Wednesday the children helped me to write the BLOG!
We had to make a track from the island to our lunch at the benches. We couldn't step on the floor or would be eaten by the crocodiles! Freya
To help us we had some magic tiles and wood - Ivy

I put some tiles down. We ran out of tiles so we used the wood. Caitlin

I pulled the magic wood to them. My friends helped me - Al-Ameen.

I'm passing the magic wood on - Harry

I'm passing the magic tiles - Scarlett

We reached the bench!

We had to work together - Kaelin
We had to use the tiles and wood and pass them to each other - Max

With the SWAC team we learnt to reduce, reuse and recycle.

We found things to make a big bug hotel - Henry

We found grass for the bug hotel - Scarlett

I found grass for the hotel - Bailey

We have made a hotel for bugs and flies to live there - Dikachi

On Thursday an Animal Man came to visit us! He said all of the animals were friendly and were all of his pets! He has over 100 pets!
We were very brave and some of us held a snake! The snakes names was Nessa!

We stroked a bearded dragon. It felt lumpy, prickly and bumpy!

We saw a micro pig. When we stroked it, it was soft and cuddly.

We stroked a skunk. It wasn't smelly. It is only smelly when it is scared.

On Friday it was Sport's Day!
We began with a space hopper race!

Check out our concentration!

Well done to all of the children!
