Bumble Bees - week beginning 01.02.16

This week at Nursery we will be learning about Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated.

We watched the Chinese New Year story on YouTube and retold the story in our small world play.
This year is the year of the monkey - Thomas.

We will be making a Chinese New Year card to send home to our families. On Monday we decorated the front of our card with a blossom tree.

We used a fine brush and black paint to paint the tree and cotton buds and red and pink paint to print the blossom.

On Tuesday we wrote the inserts to go inside our cards.

On the interactive whiteboard we had to put numbers on the Chinese dragons body, back into the right order.

Joe ordered correctly numbers from 1-10 - well done!

Jessica and Amy together correctly matched the Numicon shapes to the numeral from 1-10
- great job!

In the Writing Area we traced carefully firework patterns.

Isla used chalks to make these lovely firework patterns.

On Monday we cut and stuck red pieces of paper onto big gold circles. These will be used to make a big Chinese dragon to decorate our classroom!

We have enjoyed playing in our new role play area - which is a Chinese Restaurant.

What would you like to eat?

We used chopsticks and tweezers to pick up and move pom poms.

At the Writing Area table we wrote in mandarin!

We enjoyed playing with noodles!

We enjoyed eating spring rolls together on the carpet.

A big thank you to Chloe Wai-Yee, Isabelle Mei-Sum and William and Alex's parents who sent in red envelopes with a little present inside for all the children to take home.

The sounds we will be learning this week are - m and d
m - inside our magic hat was ........
A monkey

A mouse

Amelia did a great job balancing the monkeys onto the tree.

Look at the concentration on Charlie's face!

Our number focus this week is the number 10.
