Forest School Habitats

The children used natural materials to make homes for Forest School creatures.

Sam made a home for a squirrel.
"I'm putting the sticks against the logs, then tying them with string to make them stay together"
"It's got conkers, acorns and water so it has something to eat and drink. I've made a path to it too"
"We're making a home for a ladybird. We need to use the sticks like this, and strings and pegs to get it to stay together". The girls added a sofa, a bed and a fridge to make the ladybird feel at home!

"I'm making a home for a ladybird. It has dirt, stones and grass. Ladybirds eat grass."

Some animals have made their own homes.

"It's a fox den. The fox goes in there at night"
"I'm making a home for a ladybird. It will have leaves in it because ladybirds eat leaves."

The boys worked together to make a home for a snail.
"We're using stones because they're strong, like bricks."
"There's some grass for the snail to eat, and a log to roll. It's a bit like a playground!"
Can you see the snail?

We found a frog under the log pile.
"Frogs need water to swim in."
"Frogs have 4 legs. 2 long ones and 2 short ones."

Birds live in nests.
"This is a nest for a robin. It has grass and a sitting room so it can be comfy."
"My nest is for a magpie, tweet tweet!"

"I've made mud cupcakes. It's going to be a home for worms."

"We're digging a hole to build a nest for insects."
