Size!

This week at nursery we are learning to use size language to describe everyday objects by length e.g. long, short, longest, shortest, longer than, shorter than. We will also be learning to order three or more items by length.

We made a snake using play dough. We then had to make a snake that was longer and shorter.

We then had to put our snakes into order of size from the shortest to the longest

Using a piece of ribbon we had to find different objects in the classroom and find out if the ribbon was longer or shorter than the object.

"The ribbon is shorter than the easel"

"The name card is shorter than the ribbon"

"The ribbon is longer than the pencil"

Can you find objects at home which are longer and shorter than you?

Today we have been busy counting cars at the garage. Then we measured the line of cars with our long snakes. Farris counted 22 cars.

Jamie used unifx to measure the size worms. He kept checking until the unifx was as long as the worms.
Jamie counted & was able to say that the short worm was 4 cubes long, and the longer worm was 8 cubes long.
