V for volcanoes!

Today at Nursery we learnt about the sound 'v'.
On You Tube we watched a film of a volcano erupting. We made our own volcanoes using bicarbonate of soda and coloured vinegar. Using pipettes we dripped the coloured vinegar onto the bicarbonate of soda and watched little volcanic eruptions! These are some of the things we observed:-

"It bubbles, it's a noise, a bubbly noise! It's getting bigger and bigger" Dahlia

"It's sinking. It's got bubbles. It's a really big volcano!" Haden

"It's amazing! It makes a sssssss sound. It feels gooey when you put your finger in it. It was massive when I put it on the lumps. You can see how the lava flows when you tip it" Elsie

We held a paint brush in both hands and painted big volcanic eruptions!

Abigail has made a volcano by poking lava coloured pipe cleaners into a colander.
