Bumblebee Class week beginning 20/2/17

This week we will be sharing the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle.

Our letter sounds this week are 'g' and 'o'.

The children made their own caterpillars, using a variety of techniques and materials.

Rolling and joining balls of play dough, and adding legs and eyes.

"My caterpillar is very long".

Careful printing to create some fabulous caterpillars.

Threading Cheerios onto pipe cleaners.

Caterpillar number lines at the maths table.

Making caterpillars using construction resources.

The children looked closely at the illustrations in the book & painted their own pictures.

They even acted out the life cycle of a caterpillar/butterfly, and learned a new song.

A tiny egg lay on a leaf.

Out of the egg came a tiny, and very hungry caterpillar.

There's a tiny caterpillar on a leaf, wriggle wriggle.

She will eat the leaf around her for her tea, munch, munch.

She will spin a cocoon around her for her home, spin, spin.

She'll become a butterfly and fly away, flap, flap.

The children finished the week by creating some healthy edible caterpillars.
