We shared the story of 'The Great Race', which tells how the Jade Emporer challenged the animals to a race. The 12 animals were each awarded a special place in the Chinese Zodiac. 2017 is The Year of the Rooster.
Our role play area is a Chinese restaurant.
The children have been chefs, waiting staff, customers and telephone operators.
David said "I went to a Chinese restaurant. I had noodles but they had black chopsticks".
The children painted cherry blossom pictures & made cards to take home.
And they looked very carefully at some Chinese writing, then used fine brushes to have a go at writing their own Chinese New Year messages.

We used the interactive white board to sequence numbers on a Chinese dragon.
Everybody made a collage using gold and red materials.
We put them all together to create a super Chinese Dragon. Dominik painted a fantastic dragon's head.
Our letter sounds this week are 'i' and 'n'.
