Bumble Bee Class - week beginning 09.05.2016

This week's learning activities will be based around the story, "Elmer" by David McKee.

The children will be encourged to describe the story setting, characters and events.

We enjoyed covering the elephants with berry juice in the tuff spot!

The children will be using different media and materials to create effects to make their very own Elmers!

At the Writing Area we carefully patterned Elmers.

The children will also be learning about colour and how colours can be changed.

We used a pipette to mix 2 colours together to see what new colour it made.

Red and blue make purple.

We enjoyed playing with the torches and colour paddles and making new colours.
Purple!

Green!

Making ink splat pictures! What happens to the colours when they mix together?

Alfie has used tweezers to pick up and match the coloured poms poms.

Maths Focus: -  This week the children will be practising their careful counting. We will also be learning to find the total number of objects in two groups by counting all of them.

We sorted coloured bean bags on the carpet into two groups. We counted how many of each coloured bean bag we had and then counted them altogether to find the total.
We have three bean bags and two bean bags altogether that makes five.

We sorted by colour and counted them.

I have 3 animals.

This week we have been learning to write our names using the correct sequence of movements.

We also wrote our names using letters on the magnetic board.

Phonics Focus: - This week we will be revisiting sounds which we have previously learnt and encouraging the children to recognise them at speed.
