Bumble Bee Class - week beginning 23.05.16

This week is Outdoor Week!

This week is Outdoor Week throughout the school. The children in Bumble Bee Class will be taking part in many outdoor activities all of which we will share with you on our BLOG.

Monday - On Monday the children were visited by SWAC (Bexley's School Waste Action Club) who  promoted the three R's - reduce, reuse and recyle.

The SWAC team taught us how important worms are and how they help to make compost.

We helped to label a diagram of a worm. Did you know worms have no legs? They just use their muscles to help them to move.

We looked closely at worms. Baby worms are tiny and white.

The worlds longest worm is this long!

The children also watched the following Peppa Pig episode which shows Peppa and George helping Mummy and Daddy Pig to recycle their household waste. Please encourage your child to help you to recycle at home this week.

Karen organised a Scavenger Hunt for the children in our Outdoor Area. The children had to find all of the objects on their check list in order to complete the task and be awarded a special sticker.

Chloe found a leaf with a hole in it!

Many of the activities in the classroom on Monday involved using recyclable materials.

Junk modelling.

Macie has made a rocket.

Jennie has made a fantastic ice cream shop!

Cutting and sticking using old newspapers.

Bottle tops in the water tray.

They are full.

Maths activities using bottle tops.

Ordering numbers.

On Tuesday we went to Forest School to draw and paint things which we could see. Carter described Forest School today as "Art School!"

At the Writing Area today we enjoyed cutting around old cards and making new pictures or cards for our family and friends.

We also made bottle top pictures.

On Wednesday, we had a den building day.
The children used string, clips, ropes, pegs and material to create cosy dens.

There was some great teamwork.

After a lot of hard work, the children were able to relax in their dens with a drink, a snack and a good book.

On Thursday, we were very pleased to welcome so many parents to our 'Stay and Play'  Forest School  and board game sessions.

A special thank you from Karen to all the parents who really got stuck in to all of the Forest School activities (even if they were not so keen on mud and bugs)!

Friday - Teddy Bear's Picnic

The children and bears started the afternoon with a Grand Parade.

Folłwed by singing, dancing and games.

Mrs Jones joined us for 'The Farmers in his Den'.

The children enjoyed some snacks and drinks, and finished the afternoon with a visit to the Upland Ice Cream Parlour.

We have had a fantastic Outdoor week at Nursery which the children have clearly enjoyed! A big thank you to Karen for all of the many activities which she has planned and prepared for us this week.
