"On The Way Home" by Jill Murphy
We began the week by listening to the story, "On The Way Home" by Jill Murphy. In the story the main character Claire hurts her knee. On her way home she imaginatively tells her friends lots of different ways that she hurt it. For our writing activities this week we used our imagination to think of a character that we saw on our way home and how we hurt our knee. Here are some of our fantastic ideas: -
At the Writing Area table we all also wrote a "Get Well" card for Claire.
Road Safety
During Road Safety Week our learning activities were also based on the theme, "What's On The Road" and the aims were -
- For children to know what a road is, what traffic is and that traffic exists in many forms.
- For children to understand that traffic can be dangerous.
- For children to know the rules for keeping safe near traffic.
On Friday we put all our Road Safety skills into action by going on a local walk to the Post Box to post our get well cards for Claire.
We were all given a Road Safety Award for crossing the road safely - well done everybody!
