Ladybird class WB: 9.01.2017 A busy week

This week we have been very busy learning new digraphs: sh, ch, th, ng.
We have been looking at the story Owl Babies and produced some fantastic work.

The children helped to create these beautifully textured owls using sponging and stickeling techniques.

Placing another layer of colour and using a different type of sponge.

The children added a feathered effect using the segments of pine like leaves from a dried monkey puzzle branch.
Cynthia thinks it is like spikes and Partjcya said 'it is like little pins if you touch the ends.'

Our maths focus was on 3D shapes this week.

Teddy and Jacob made cubes using matchsticks and playdogh corners.

A 3D town with cubes and cuboids.

We also had our first PE lesson which went really well.

At the end of our PE session we listen to calming music and think about our breathing. This helps us to be mindful of how our bodies feel and how to make our body calm and still after our excercises.

We ended the week going to the ICT suit and practicing mouse skills, with small movements and left click, as we played a phonic pop game.

Learning our ICT room rules

Ava made an owl using our natural resources in the transient art area.
